On Saturday, June 1 from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm, Silent Disco Vibe will introduce a wireless, LED headphone party experience to CityPlace with three distinct channels of music, including two live DJ’s, giving the audience the power to decide who and what to listen to during the course of the evening. Depending on the selection, the headphones change colors, adding an element of social experiment to the scene. Headphone rentals are just $5 each and can be reserved in advance online or secured, based on availability, anytime during the course of the event.
Beer, cocktail and non-alcoholic beverage service – cash bar (onsite ATM) – will be available on the plaza, and bites will be just steps away at SwitcHouse Plates & Pours inside the adjacent Houston CityPlace Marriott at Springwoods Village. After the set, the stylish venue will serve up a refreshing reverse happy hour to keep the fun going until close. CityPlace’s popular Lunch on the Plaza rolls into the month on Thursday, June 6 from 11 am to 2 pm as Southern Slider Company of Texas food truck brings burgers to the blues of multi-genre acoustic musician Tony Bastida. The second installment on Thursday, June 20 from 11 am until 2 pm pairs Mingo’s Latin Kitchen with the spicy sounds of Ramon Torres.
From June 6 through 8, CityPlace celebrates Texas distilling as Dripping Springs comes to Spring during the district’s inaugural Whiskey Weekend. On Thursday, June 6, CityPlace will host a Whiskey Wind Down iteration of its Sips series on the central green from 4 pm to 7 pm. Treaty Oak representatives will be on hand to sample and answer questions about the product, and $5 happy hour pours and specialty cocktails will be available. Singer-songwriter Adrian Michael will perform, and food can be purchased at adjacent SwitcHouse Plates & Pours, where the activation will be relocated in the event of rain.
On Friday, June 7 at 7 pm, newly appointed SwitcHouse chef Darren Tonner, formerly of Morton's The Steakhouse, collaborates on a four-course whiskey pairing dinner with just appointed Treaty Oak Distilling chef and pitmaster Scott Fogle. The evening, which is priced at $100 per person, includes complimentary valet parking and spotlights a presentation by Treaty Oak’s Director of Science and Sustainability Jamie Biel.
Following the dinner, SwitcHouse will feature a reverse happy hour showcasing Treaty Oak Distilling cocktails from 10 pm until close. Whiskey Weekend festivities conclude with Brunch on the Plaza from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, June 8. The alfresco buffet will be priced at $30 per person and accompanied with entertainment from guitarist Robert Greaney. Additionally, made-to-measure clothier Tom James will be on-hand to showcase seasonal fabrics and styles and take fittings for custom garments.
